Shree Satyanarayan Vrat katha is the story of the lord Satyanarayana. It is one of the most famous puja which is performed of all Hindus Pujas. Satya means truth and Narayan means Highest being who is embodiment of truth. This is the highly spiritual prayers for Hindu highly performed on the Purnima (Full moon day) of every month or on Sankranti. There is no special muhurat or date to perform this prayer. One can perform this prayer anytime in a year or on special occasion like marriage, festival offering gratitude towards lord almighty. We cannot perform Satyanarayan Vrat Katha/Puja on the New moon day (Amavasya). Performing this puja in the evening during sunset is considered more appropriate and auspicious. However one can perform this puja during any time of day. Shree Satyanarayan Vrat katha has its beginning in the Reva-kaand of Skand purana. This Satyanarayan vrat katha(Story or true event) was narrated by Narrated by Maharishi Suta (Sutji) based on question asked by Saunaka Muni (Saint) who was performing Yajna for 1000 years for the benefit of mankind at Naimisaranya. Saunaka Muni asked Maharaishi Suta to give solution for the mankind who are suffering from all kinds of sorrow and sins. Maharishi replied to the grievance of the question asked and explained him the significance of Satyanarayan Vrat katha which will remove all the obstacles and sorrow from the life of the devotee.
